Llangynwyd Middle Community Council Services
Donations and Support
Council likes to hear about new schemes and ideas, and when it receives requests for donations or support, each case is considered on its own merits. Council is very supportive of the Village Hall, the three schools in its area, Llangynwyd Rangers BGCW Football Club, and of course, regularly meets with the local PCSO for feedback on crime in the area, etc.
Council makes every effort to arrange appropriate events for the community, either to mark an occasion or maybe, to celebrate something, e,g., on Remembrance Day, a service is normally held at the Village Hall, and afterwards, wreaths are laid at the cenotaph in the grounds, before returning for refreshments in the hall.
During the summer months, Council arranges for the erection and maintenance of 10 large hanging baskets on Llangynwyd Square; the blooms bring an attractive display of colour to the area.
Every year, the Council arranges for the erection of beautiful festive street lighting for the community, with a Christmas tree by Cwmfelin roundabout.
Parc Tir Iarll
The Council leases this land from Bridgend County Borough Council for use as a community park. A Park Warden is employed to maintain and make improvements to this precious green space; it is a wonderful asset for the community.
Grass Cutting Scheme for Seniors
Senior citizens in the area may have either their front or back lawn cut twice a year should they have nobody to do it for them.
There is one allotment in the community which is presently not in use:
In the grounds of Parc Tir Iarll
Maintenance of Public Rights of Way
Mr Gareth White is also the contractor for the maintenance of Rights of Way in the area. Should you experience any problems, please contact the Clerk or any of the Councillors.
Provision of Dog Waste Bags
The council provides residents with a free supply of bags which are available from Llangynwyd Village Hall, Llan Mini Market and the park warden at Parc Tir Iarll. Recently, two TiksPac dispensers have been installed, one by the village hall, the other near Cwmfelin school.
It is important to help keep our streets free of dog faeces, therefore, by supplying the free bags, we hope more dog owners will act responsibly and clean-up after their dogs.
PLEASE DISPOSE OF THE BAGS IN ANY LITTER BIN, EXCEPT THOSE BINS IN PLAY PARKS
100th Birthdays, Golden and Diamond Wedding Anniversaries
Please inform the Clerk or any Councillor of the name, address and telephone number, and of course the date and nature of the celebration; an appropriate gift will be delivered on behalf of Council.
